Applied Learning Programme – Environmental Sustainability

Science for Sustainable Development

The Quest to foster a culture of environmental responsibility in our students, by striving to raise awareness of sustainable practices, inspiring them to take meaningful action, and lead by example in conserving our planet's resources. Through continuous learning, proactive advocacy, and collaborative efforts, we aim to drive positive change and empower our students to become stewards of a more sustainable future.

Our school’s ALP adopts a thematic approach, where students explore global geographical issues related to sustainability, namely:

Sec 1: Water Sustainability

Sec 2: Urban and Energy Sustainability

These three themes, which are aligned with the Singapore Green Plan 2030, are critical for Singapore’s continued development. We leverage current and relevant learning content to design engaging packages that help our students apply their knowledge of Geography and Science to solve a real-world issue.

Programme Highlights for our Environmental Ambasadors – Sustainability Champions

QUEST Global @ Japan

In collaboration with our school’s Learning for Life Programme (LLP), this programme involves the Sustainability Champions and Student Leaders, with the objectives of deepening their understanding of environmental and social sustainability and learning how they are put into practice in another country through immersing in, engaging with, and observing the locals. In addition, we aim to strengthen the E21CC and Leadership Practices of our young ambassadors.

Programme Outline:

(a)  Learning about Japan’s sustainability efforts

Join Us

We welcome students who are passionate about environmental advocacy to apply for the DSA Exercise. Interested students should be keen to adopt an interdisciplinary approach to solving geographical issues.

Successful applicants will have the privilege of participating in the school’s DSA Talent Development Programme which will include progressive exposure to issues related to the environment and sustainability. They will take on the role of Sustainability Champions, undertaking projects that advocate for environmental sustainability at the Upper Secondary level. In the process, students will also acquire effective communication and presentation skills as they build their confidence to advocate for a good cause in their area of passion.
